Chisinau, my Love is a cinematic declaration to the city: a film of atmosphere, tension, and detail, built with respect for the viewer. We don’t reveal the plot ahead of time; instead, we promise light, sound, and rhythm that will stay with you after the credits. Filmed predominantly in Chișinău, the project explores what happens when loyalty, choices, and silence become characters. Our goal is a pure cinema, without unnecessary artifices — a film that speaks honestly about the city and about us.
Director’s note: I am making this film as a letter to a place that shaped me. I have no intention of explaining the plot ahead of time. I want to promise only what I can control: atmosphere, rigor, and respect for the viewer. Chișinău is a real, contradictory character, and the tension comes from detail, not from noise. I want the audience to leave with a personal question, not with a comfortable answer.
A director, screenwriter, and producer from the Republic of Moldova, with international recognition. Founder of the Shakespeare United International Festival and the Nameless Theater in Chișinău. He has staged performances in France, Spain, Ukraine, Turkey, Romania, and Moldova, and is included in the Palgrave Encyclopedia of Global Shakespeare. In cinema, he has created award-winning films at Cannes, Hong Kong, and Sweden, such as Triloghia, Resilience, Paparuda, Ogma, and Nihil. Honored with numerous distinctions, including Man of the Year in Moldova and the Courage Award (2024). Mihai Țărnă is a director, screenwriter, and producer from the Republic of Moldova, one of the important voices of contemporary theater and film. Founder of the Shakespeare United International Festival and the Nameless Theater in Chișinău, he has staged productions on major stages in France, Spain, Ukraine, Turkey, Romania, and Moldova, and is featured in the Palgrave Encyclopedia of Global Shakespeare. In film, he has signed internationally awarded works such as Triloghia (Cannes, Cinecittà), Resilience (Grand Prize in Hong Kong), Paparuda (First Prize in Sweden), Ogma, and Nihil. Recognized for the strength and originality of his creations, he has received the title Man of the Year in Moldova and the Courage Award (2024).
Mark Hadlow (born in 1957) is a New Zealand actor, comedian, and director. He is best known for playing the dwarf Dori in The Hobbit trilogy, but also appeared in films such as King Kong and voiced characters in Meet the Feebles. In 2017, he was appointed Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his contributions to the arts.
Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (born in 1973) is an Icelandic-American actor, producer, and screenwriter. He is best known for his role as police chief Andri in the hit series Trapped, and has appeared in films such as The Deep, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
Marinko Prga (born in 1971 in Split, Croatia) is a Croatian actor and voice actor active in theatre, film, and television. He is a member of the Croatian National Theatre in Varaždin and has performed in over 70 productions. He is also recognized for his dubbing work in multiple languages and his performances in the Kajkavian dialect.
Ivan Franek (born in 1964 in Plzeň, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech actor active in French and Italian cinema. He is known for roles in films such as Brucio nel vento, Vodka Lemon, and La grande bellezza. He lives between Paris and Rome.
Raluca Aprodu is a Romanian theatre and film actress, born on February 18, 1985, in Bucharest. She graduated from the National University of Theatre and Film (UNATC) in 2009 and works at the National Theatre in Bucharest (TNB), performing in productions directed by Andrei Șerban and Radu Afrim.
Liviu Cheloiu is a Romanian actor born on June 28, 1975, in Râmnicu Vâlcea, active at the “Tony Bulandra” Theatre in Târgoviște. He is known for his theatre roles and for his involvement in organizing the International Performing Arts Festival “BABEL F.A.S.T.”.
Jan Nedbal (born September 26, 1990, in Děčín) is a Czech actor known for roles in series such as Sestřičky Modrý kód, Specialisté, and Bratři (2023). He studied acting at DAMU in Prague and has collaborated with several theatres in the Czech Republic as well as in Norway. His popularity rose particularly through television productions.
Jacky Ido (born May 14, 1977, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso) is a French-Burkinabé actor best known for his role as Marcel, the projectionist in Inglourious Basterds (2009). His first major appearance was as Lemalian in the 2005 German film The White Massai, which opened the door to international projects.
Constantin “Tache” Florescu (born September 11, 1962, in Huși) is a Romanian theatre and film actor, graduate of the Academy of Theatre and Film in Bucharest. He has played numerous roles in Romanian and international productions, being appreciated for his naturalness and expressiveness.
Emanuel Bighe is a Romanian actor born on October 2, 1994, in Zărnești. He is part of the Tony Bulandra Theatre troupe in Târgoviște and has appeared in theatre as well as in film and television productions. He also became known through his participation in entertainment shows, where he demonstrated talent in stand-up and improvisation.
Gil Demurger is a French actor and stunt specialist, also known for his work as a fight choreographer and Krav Maga instructor. He appeared in films such as Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001), 22 Bullets (2010), and 2047: Virtual Revolution (2016). He has also been involved in recent productions such as Case 137 (2024) and Game Changers (2023).

Eugen Dedkov is a director of photography (DOP) active in the Republic of Moldova, with an extensive portfolio that includes commercials, music videos, documentaries, and fiction films—over 200 productions to date. One of his most recent and significant projects is the film “The Man Without a Lifeline” (2023), where he worked simultaneously as director of photography and producer.
